Certified Nursing Assistant with the Concept of Death

Some Nursing Assistant are not at ease when talking about death or dealing with the dying patient because they are upset of the fact that some one will pass away. Because they think that they did not work hard and trained hard just to be in that situation. Their goal is to help people recover as possible as it is. Nevertheless, they give comfort to the patient and compassion during the last hours of their life. Give and do all the possible care you can give for the patients comfort. Most of the times their lip gets dry, attempt to give them some sips of water or even ice chips can help prevent the dryness of their lips. If their lips begin to crack, apply some petroleum jelly or lip balm to prevent it.

You need to have some information about the patient before they become so ill so that you can have a little knowledge about them. If a patient has soreness they should be turned on in different position to avoid it. Always check their temperature, the bedding they are still comfortable with it, ventilation and warmth, air conditioning and heating if needed. Some times most people who just have hours of their life often feels cold, it is important to keep them comfortable.

Certified Nursing Assistant can help the patient makes it easier, proper pain medication is needed and should be administered to be able to reduce the pain. You can play some soft music so that the patient can be relaxed. You can also read Bible passages or books that they can be interested of. Even hand to hand so that they will feel your comfort for them, you can do this for them because this is one of your duties as a Nursing Assistant.

Nursing Assistant can help and rely on each other to make the situation better and easier. Some are also offering counseling services to help the patient and the family deals with the death. This makes it easier to be attached with the patient. Your employer will help you to feel better in your role of being Certified Nursing Assistant.
