Dying and Death - Helping Certified Nursing Assistant

Facing the issues that regards to dying and death is related in any kind of medical profession, in any specialization. This is common to those who work in the home for the aged because the patients here are already in the last phase of their life or they will soon be with God. The issue should be taken seriously and with full consideration when a Certified Nursing Assistant works in such facility. People have different views on death some may accept it as it is or others will go on the deeper side of death. Nursing Assistant may be exposed in this kind of situation wherein there are people who have different beliefs and traditions regarding death. If the patient and family members are religiously involve you will see them praying and other form of figures from their church. Certified Nursing Assistant will also encounter some patients who are afraid of dying and still try to hold on to their last breath. They should also respect wishes of the patient and the family which is very important at this moment. Nursing Assistant should also be aware if the signs of death including slow circulation, difficulty in breathing, loss of muscle tone, and blurred vision. It is important that the Nursing Assistant pays attention in the patients chart, all changes should be recorded and immediately informed the nurse in charge. |
